Tourism Australia this week launched the much awaited Short Breaks campaign and our stilt walkers and promo girls took to the streets of Auckland – as it was just 8 degrees in downtown, not much of a reason was required to head off to warmer climes

8 degrees in downtown Auckland - 32 degrees in Queensland....who needs a bigger reason eh!

Now this looks like a fun job to have – or they are great actors!
Tim and Tim from Elsewhere Productions – on location in NZ where they were known as Tum and Tum – but at home in OZ they are Teeem and Teeeem. Anyway their work is never lost in translation and they made a lively addition to the t’rffic Toga team who were over from OZ for the opening of Travelodge Wellington

Iconic cultural tourism attraction Te Puia hosted an Australian media famil which was a showcase of the best of the region – and yes, our Aussie colleagues were wowed!!
From hideaway hot pools on the banks of Lake Tarawera to a spectacular helipro flight to the summit of Mt Tarawera, our writers were not lacking for content. The roadtrip on the way down from the airport offered a great opportunity to bond with our writers and so by the time we arrived in Rotorua we all knew everything there was to know about each other….a story which even the local paper seemed keen to pick up on – where the media became the story!
A lot of fun and a Daily Post was purchased as a keepsake of a fabulous time. The stories are already flowing thick and fast in publications from Queensland to Victoria – thanks Lyn for sharing the fabulous pics and here’s to a whole new Australian audience being inspired to travel to one of our top tourism attractions….and a special thanks to the partner operators who just really put the icing on this cake.
